Open Monument Day® on 8 September
Programme from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The theme of the event is ‘Land-Mark. Witnesses of History’, the nationwide Open Monument Day® will take place on Sunday, 8 September 2024. The former ADGB Trade Union School in Bernau and the Teachers' House 9 will also be taking part. In cooperation with the Visitor Centre, we will be offering an extensive and free programme on this day between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Lecture and special tour of the current exhibition
The baudenkmal bundesschule bernau association invites you to the Foundations Day on 29 September 2024. With a lecture about Arieh Sharon' role within the International Style and a special tour of the current exhibition "Arieh Sharon – From the Bauhaus into the World" with Dr Kaija Voss. When Arieh Sharon came to the Bauhaus in Dessau at the age of 26, he was already an architect. He became one of Hannes Meyer's most trusted students and closest collaborators. When Meyer won the architectural competition for the ADGB Trade Union School in 1928, he appointed Sharon as construction manager for the associated teachers' and employees' houses. After Hans Wittwer's departure from the Bauhaus and the Bernau school project in spring 1929, Meyer even entrusted Sharon with the entire management of the Berlin construction office, which had been set up specifically for the planning and execution of the Trade Union School.

On occasion of the 40th year of death of the Bauhaus architect Arieh Sharon, who was the construction manager of the Teachers' Houses of the ADGB Trade Union School in Bernau (today: headquarters of the association baudenkmal bundesschule bernau) the association presents its new exhibition "Arieh Sharon - From Bauhaus to the World" with photographs and films by Berlin photographer Jean Molitor.
Until October 31, visitors can now view the exhibition on Thursdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., or by prior arrangement with the Visitor Center.
